Apostille Service

We understand that getting your documents “apostilled” or “legalised” can be confusing time consuming and, if not completed correctly, expensive. A question frequently asked by our clients is,

Why do I need my documents to be legalised after they have been notarised?

The simple answer is different countries have different requirements that must be met before they will accept your documents. Many countries require that the identity and authority of the Notary Public is certified by the country or State in which they practise. In the UK the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is the government department that issues this certificate, known as an Apostille.

Step 2

Where Are Your Documents Going To?

Apostille Service

If your notarised documents are to be used in a country that has signed up to the Hague Convention of 5th October 1961 then an Apostille will normally be sufficient for your documents to be accepted in that country.

There are, however, some countries who despite signing the Hague Convention of 5th October 1961 will insist upon consular legalisation and we can advise whether this is needed in order for your notarised documents to be accepted.
